Hollins Stumbles on the Road

Lynchburg, VA - Hollins University Lacrosse at Lynchburg College, March 7, 2013

Box Score

For the fourth time in the past six days, the Hollins lacrosse team found themselves on the road when they traveled to face one of the ODAC's best on Thursday night.  Lynchburg College played host to Hollins under the lights on a cold and windy night.  The Hornets, selected third in the ODAC preseason poll, were playing their first conference game of the season while Hollins came in off a loss to W&L on Tuesday.

The road weary visitors struggled from the opening draw as the Hornets seized control of the game from the outset.  During a first half that saw most of the action in the visitors zone, Lynchburg raced out to a big halftime lead.  Hollins never found their legs and fell to their ODAC rivals by the score of 16-0.

Brittany Hanavan (Wilton, CT) led the team in shots as the green and gold struggled most of the night to generate scoring opportunities.  Keeper Corrine Nicholson (Takoma Park, MD) and her defensive teammates did their best to keep Hollins within striking distance.  Nicholson recorded nine saves and scooped up a team high three ground balls.

Kendall Adkin and Katherine Francis led the Hornets with three goals each.  Caroline Carozza and Katie Seidel added a pair of goals while Seidel and Caroline Kilby each handed out four assists.

Hollins will get a bit of a break before they take the field next Wednesday.  Meredith College will be the opponent as Hollins will finally play a game on home turf.  The matchup with the Avenging Angels is scheduled to start at 4:30pm.
