Roanoke, VA - Hollins University Lacrosse vs Ferrum College March 10, 2010

After having to postpone three games due to weather, the Hollins University lacrosse team was finally able to take the field for their first game of the season.  Hollins hosted the Panthers of Ferrum College on Wednesday afternoon.  Hollins didn't appear to have their game legs yet as Ferrum raced out to an early lead.  Hollins regrouped at halftime and played the Panthers to an 8-2 second half.

First year keeper Kelly Sheehan (Haymarket, VA/Stonewall Jackson) recorded 13 saves in her first collegiate game.  Sheehan held her ground despite seeing 35 of Ferrum's 44 shots come on goal.  Sarah Klam (Manassas, VA/Battlefield), left, and Cait DiMondi (Dover, DE/Dover) each found the net for the home team.

Ferrum got goals from 10 different players.  Cara Jacobs led the way with six while Melissa Windsor, Jen Phan, and Anna Wheeler each tallied three times.

Hollins will host Trinity on Saturday afternoon with a 1:00pm faceoff.
