Saturday afternoon saw Hollins taking on Richard Stockton in the second day of the McDaniel College tip-off tournament. Slow starts have put Hollins in an early hole in each of their first two games this season. Not today, as Hollins got off to a fast start and led by 10 after eight minutes of play against the Ospreys. Hollins didn't slow down and built the lead to as many as 20 en route to taking a 43-26 halftime lead. The second half started the same way with Hollins keeping Stockton at arms length and with just under 13 minutes left in the game, Hollins enjoyed an 18 point lead. The next few minutes saw a sudden shift in momentum as the Ospreys started knocking down shots. An 11 point Stockton run cut the Hollins lead to seven with 10 minutes to play. Hollins could not regain the momentum and found themselves trailing 75-76 at the 3:30 mark. With 2:30 remaining and the game tied at 78-78, the defense made a stand, gaining possession of the ball; however, a turnover gave the ball right back to Stockton. The Ospreys capitalized on the Hollins miscue to take the lead heading into the final seconds of the game. Richard Stockton hit three of their final four free throws to seal the 86-82 victory. It marked the third straight game that Hollins has lost by four points. Hollins placed four players in double-digits led by Lacie Forrest (Richmond, VA/Meadowbrook) and her 21 points. Jasmine Greene (Hampton, VA/Tabb) added 19 points, four rebounds, and eight assists while Chanci Wright (Eden, TX/Eden) scored 19 with a team high nine rebounds. Lauren Morris (Morehead, NC/Croatan), behind three of nine shooting from long range, scored 13 and Molly Tahmaseb (Greensboro, NC/Northern Guilford) added six. For her efforts over the weekend, Greene was named to the All Tournament Team. Richard Stockton finished off the big comeback by shooting 50% from three-point land and 88% from the free throw line. Lauren Alwan led the Ospreys with 22 points and nine rebounds. Che'Na Thompson and Aliyah Nelson each added 16 while Aspen Price-Perry scored 12. After starting the season out of conference, the "meat" of the season starts on Tuesday night when the Wasps of Emory & Henry come to town. The ODAC opener starts at 7:00pm and can be seen live on the web on First Team Broadcasting.
