Ashland, VA - Hollins University Basketball at Randolph-Macon College, January 14, 2012 The road for Hollins didn't get any easier on Saturday afternoon when they finished up three game road trip with a visit to ODAC power Randolph-Macon. After struggling down the stretch against Va. Wesleyan last night, Hollins needed to get off to a fast start against the home standing Yellow Jackets. Hollins did just that, hitting a three pointer out of the gate to take an early lead. Macon battled back and the game went back and forth for much of the first half. Neither team could pull away and the game was with just six minutes to play in the first half. The Yellow Jackets went on a late half run to take an eight point lead into the break. Hollins hung around for much of the second half and found themselves trailing by just seven at the 11 minute mark. But much like last night, the home team pulled away from the road weary visitors en route to a 76-53 victory. The backcourt again led Hollins. Jasmine Greene (Hampton, VA/Tabb) scored a game high 18 points while Lacie Forrest (Richmond, VA/Meadowbrook) added 12. Greene also led the team with 10 rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Molly Tahmaseb (Greensboro, NC/Northern Guilford) and Brandi Chesne (Hammond, LA/Northlake Christian) each scored six points for the visitors. Hollins struggled again from the field, shooting just 29% for the game. Randolph-Macon got scoring from 10 different players led by Maggie Roy and her 17 points. Taylor Wieczorek led the Yellow Jackets interior play with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Jill Asay added 14 while Sarah Parsons came off the bench to score 10. Hollins will return home on Tuesday night. However the games don't get an easier as Eastern Mennonite comes to Roanoke for a 7:oo tip. |
