Box Score

Hollins traveled to Staunton on Tuesday night in search of their first victory of the season.  After dropping a pair of close games at the William Peace Tip-Off Tournament, Hollins looked to get in the win column against Mary Baldwin before heading into the Thanksgiving Break.

Hollins used good shooting and lockdown defense to take the lead early against the Squirrels.  The road team held Mary Baldwin to just 12 first half points while building a 39-12 lead at the break.  11 different players found the scoring column as Hollins went on to their first win of the season, 66-26.  For the game the Hollins defense held their opponents to just 18% shooting and dominated the boards, 60-27.

Senior guard Lacie Forrest (Richmond, VA) led Hollins with nine points as no player played more than 21 minutes on the night.  Auburn Smith (Las Vegas, NV) and Britney Campbell (Silver Spring, MD) each scored eight while Carrie Cox (Lynch Station, VA) and Lauren Hays (Saginaw, TX) added seven apiece.  Chanci Wright (Eden, TX) helped the Hollins rebound advantage by collecting 11 boards with Campbell and Hays joining three teammates in securing six caroms each.  Leading scorer Jasmine Greene (Hampton, VA) had just six points but led the team with three assists and four steals.

Mary Baldwin was led by Shamanda Washington and her game high 11 points.  Sheridan Lawrence added seven points and Shanice Miles scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Hollins will head into the break with a 1-2 mark and look to get off to a quick start within the ODAC when they host Bridgewater College next week.  The game with the Eagles is scheduled to tip at 7:00pm on Wednesday night and the game can be seen live on the web.  Next Wednesday's and all Hollins home games will be broadcast live on First Team Broadcasting.
