Athlete of the Week - March 8, 2010

Karen Montoya, tennis, is the Hollins Student-Athlete of the Week. Against Sweet Briar, Karen and partner Mariah Bryant came back from 5-7 at #2 doubles to win 9-7 in a crucial doubles match that gave Hollins 2-1 lead.  She then competed at #1 singles where she won in a third set tiebreaker in a well played match against Virginia Edahl, a senior with great amount of ODAC match experience.  By virtue of going 3-0 for the week, Karen was named ODAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Karen is from Delicias, Chihuahua in Mexico and is majoring in business.
