Reunion 2008
Important Information

Check-in:

Reunion check-in and on-site registration will take place in the Cromer Bergman Alumnae House Thursday, May 29, noon - 8 p.m.; Friday, May 30, 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.; and Saturday, May 31, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. On-site registrations will be charged the $50 late registration fee. The Alumnae House is the informational center for Reunion including registration and room assignments.

Children / Babysitting:

Children are welcome participants at reunion. The cost for children 6 and over is $65 per child for the entire weekend and includes all meals. Bring your own cribs, sleeping bags, and strollers. Indicate number and ages of all children on the registration form. Check on registration form if you are interested in babysitting services during designated times ($10/hour for each child age 3+).

Choir:

If you were in the Hollins Chapel Choir as a student, you are invited to sing with the alumnae chapel choir at the Sunday morning memorial service. Check on the registration form.

Clothing:

Activities during reunion are casual, and informal dress is appropriate. However, Saturday night's dinner on Front Quad is dressier. You may wish to bring a sweater for outdoor meals.

Fees:

Reunion fees help defray the cost of a great event and cover such things as: catering; rental of tables, chairs, linens, and tents; flowers; entertainment; special speakers; staffing; class photos; and hospitality rooms. Activities during reunion, the Parade of Classes, and the Alumnae Celebration are complimentary and open to everyone. The $30 per-person registration fee is included with the purchase of a package. Registrations received after May 16 will be charged the $50 late fee.

Hospitality Rooms:

Each class will have a hospitality room with a bulletin board. You are encouraged to bring mementos to decorate creatively. An initial supply of cups, ice, soft drinks, and mixers will be provided.

We encourage you to stay on campus; however, if you prefer, there are several hotels nearby. Blocks of rooms will be held for Hollins University at the following locations until May 1:

Housing On Campus:

Remember that most residence halls are not air-conditioned and there are only communal bathrooms. Spouses and children are asked to share bathrooms with alumnae. No triple rooms are available. Hollins provides necessary bed linens, light blankets, and towels. You may want to bring an extra blanket, extra pillow, or a fan. Classes are assigned to residence halls on the basis of the number of classmates expected at reunion. Please register before the May 16 deadline to ensure your rooming preferences. If you register late, we cannot guarantee you a room with your class.

Meals:

Tickets for all registered meals will be included in your registration packet. Meals are provided by the Hollins food service staff in Hollins facilities and are informal, with a dressier event on Saturday evening on Front Quad.

Photographs:

Class photographs will be taken immediately following the Saturday morning celebration. A complimentary class photo will be sent to each alumna who attends reunion. Additional Reunion weekend photos will be available to view and purchase at the Hollins Online Photo Store Web site.

Special Assistance:

Assistance is available for those with special needs for transportation and housing while on campus. Hollins will provide wheelchairs if needed. Check on registration form and specify need.

Transportation:

  • Yellow Cab (540) 345-7711
  • Roanoke Regional Airport Limousine (540) 345-7710

Hollins does not provide shuttle service to the airport. Alumnae staying at hotels are encouraged to check with their hotel to see if shuttles are provided. If you rent a car, you may drive up to your dorm to load and unload luggage.
