Author Lee Smith and publisher Shannon Ravenel came home to Hollins on April 15 and 16, 2003. On April 15, Hollins students had the opportunity to discuss writing and publishing one-on-one with these notable alumnae. That night, Shannon, co-founder of Algonquin Books, was Lee's "opening act" for their joint talk to the community. Shannon shared her experiences of becoming an editor and publisher. Lee told stories from her Hollins days and read from her recent novel, "The Last Girls." On April 16, the Roanoke community got to share "Coffee and Conversation with the Last Girls" and learn more about writing and publishing from our alumnae.
