Nandini Roy ’06 came to Hollins as a second-semester freshman in 2002. Although she was born in Belgium, Nandini grew up in Bangladesh and lived there until moving to the U.S. in order to pursue her bachelor’s degree. “I was very anxious when I first came to Hollins all by myself from across the Atlantic, but that passed very quickly,” she said. “Hollins became my home and my family away from home.”
Once Nandini had chosen her academic pathas a double major in business (finance) and mathematicsshe spent her free time working as a quantitative reasoning tutor and serving on the Academic Policy Board and as president of her dorm, Carvin Global Village. During her junior year, she went to Jamaica with the Jamaica Service Project, an experience that “still remains one of the highlights of my life at Hollins.”
Two internships at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and one with the World Bank helped her land her current position at the NYSE in New York City.
Nandini said her “journey at Hollins is filled with fond memories” and that she experienced many special moments that will stay with her forever. “My classes, fun and stressful times during exam week, supportive faculty and staffall of these make Hollins very dear to my heart.”
