Official copies of academic records. An official copy of your academic record (transcript) listing the courses taken and grades received in each grading period during the secondary school years must be mailed to the Hollins admissions office by the school official. This transcript of courses must have your secondary school's official stamp or seal.
If you wish to transfer from a college or university outside the United States, you must have an official transcript of your college or university coursework sent to Hollins and you must also have an evaluation of your transcript completed by a foreign credential evaluation service and sent to Hollins University. Hollins recommends that the evaluation be done by the following foreign educational credential service:
World Education Services, Inc.
P.O. Box 745, Old Chelsea Station
New York, NY 10113-0745
USA
Telephone: (212) 966-6311 or (800) 937-3895
Fax: (212) 966-6395
e-mail: info@wes.org
Web site: www.wes.org
This evaluation will help us determine how many credits you can receive toward your Hollins degree for courses you have taken elsewhere. Sending us a brief description of each college-level course you have taken will also help us determine the transfer credits you have earned and which, if any, Hollins graduation requirements you may have already fulfilled. The Hollins registrars office works individually with each international transfer student to ensure that she receives all appropriate transfer credits.

One letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor at your school. If your native language is not English, you must submit a recommendation from your most recent English instructor that briefly indicates the content of your English course work and the level of proficiency you have achieved. |
 |
If you come from a country where English is not the official language, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have your scores forwarded to the Hollins University admissions office. Hollins requires a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based total) or 213 (computer-based total). If you come from a country where English is one of the official languages and you have done your secondary school or university coursework in English, you must take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) of the College Entrance Examination Board and have the scores forwarded to the admissions office. |
Any national examination results, such as the English GSCE or "A" Levels, should be submitted as part of your application. Photocopies of these certificates must bear your secondary school's official seal or stamp.
We will not be able to review your application until all the required documents have been received. If you are admitted, Hollins will issue you a Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status (also known as an I-20 form) so you can apply for a student visa at the appropriate United States consulate.

Financial assistance:
International students and their families are expected to contribute toward the annual expenses of a Hollins education. Scholarships for international students with previous demonstrated academic success range from $5,000 - $15,000. International students are also eligible to compete for the Batten Scholars program which covers full tuition, provided they meet the SAT/GPA requirements. Limited financial aid is available for international students with outstanding academic credentials.
To apply for scholarships or other financial aid, you should complete the College Boards Confidential Declaration and Certification of Finances and submit it with your Hollins application.
Please note that U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service regulations prohibit most students in F status from accepting paid employment anywhere except on the campus where they are studying. A limited number of student jobs on the Hollins campus are available for international students with financial need.

Scholarship funds are limited and may no longer be available for students who apply late. In most cases, you will be notified by mail shortly after April 1 about your admission and any financial aid (if applicable). In some cases, you may hear earlier or later, depending on when your application file was complete. Applications received after June 1 will be considered on a space-available basis.
