International students and their families are expected to contribute toward the annual expenses of a Hollins education. Scholarships for international students with previous demonstrated academic success range from $5,000 to $15,000. International students are also eligible to compete for the Batten Scholars program which covers full tuition, provided they meet the SAT/GPA requirements. Limited financial aid is available for international students with outstanding academic credentials.
To apply for scholarships or other financial aid, you should complete the College Board's Confidential Declaration and Certification of Finances (PDF) and submit it with your Hollins application.
Please note that U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service regulations prohibit most students in F status from accepting paid employment anywhere except on the campus where they are studying. A limited number of student jobs on the Hollins campus are available for international students with financial need.
Students with an SAT of 1300 (ACT 29) and GPA of 3.6 will be considered for Batten Scholarships, which are for full tuition and feature special leadership training and activities. Batten Scholars candidates will be invited to Hollins to participate in the Batten Scholars interview weekend, held in March.
The priority application deadline for international students wishing to enroll for fall semester is April 1. However, if you wish to be considered for scholarships or other forms of financial aid, we encourage you to complete your application by February 1 or as soon as possible thereafter. Scholarship funds are limited and may no longer be available for students who apply late. In most cases, you will be notified by mail shortly after April 1 about your admission and any financial aid (if applicable). In some cases, you may hear earlier or later, depending on when your application file was complete. Applications received after June 1 will be considered on a space-available basis. Students wishing to apply for spring semester must submit their complete applications by October 1.
