| Media Library The Media Library provides access to more than 5,000 titles on DVD, VHS, and other formats, as well as reserve and archival A/V material. DVDs can be browsed on the first floor, while the remainder of the collection is in closed storage on the ground floor; you can obtain these items by requesting them at the first floor circulation desk. Members of the Hollins University community can check out up to three titles at once for home or for viewing in one of the many viewing stations within the Media Services area. Items in the A/V collections can be checked out whenever the library is open. Please note that our DVD collection is shelved in order by accession number, not by title or by genre. To find a specific title or genre, use our online catalog; to find the newest arrivals, go to the end of the shelved DVDs. Media Services Media Services - including equipment check-out and use of various media facilities - is administered by the university's Computer Services department. The pick-up and return desk for equipment is located on the ground floor of the library. Please visit the Media Services home page for further information. Jessup Media Lab in the Library The Jessup Commons media lab is on the ground floor of the Library. This lab includes specialized software and equipment that is only available in this area. It includes 4 Macs, 1 Dell PC, a Dell Color Printer, a Canon poster printer, and equipment to convert media from one format to another - from VHS to DVD for example. There is software for video editing on the Mac computers and software to work with photos and other graphics. This includes Adobe Creative Suite on 2 of the Macs and the iLife suite. Printing costs for the color printer are $.40 for a one-sided copy and $.55 for a 2-sided copy. The printing cost on the 3 foot wide poster printer is $10.00 per linear ft. (i.e. a 3x3 ft poster would cost $30.00). The cost of the same poster would be $90.00 at Kinkos. Please contact Gabe Simpkins for an orientation to using the equipment such as the poster printer or dubbing equipment.. The lab is available during Media Services regular hours. However, because it is normally locked, you will need to make arrangements with Media Services to have someone open it. Media Services can be reached at x6569.
