THE VIETNAM PROJECT (TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY)

Online archive affiliated with Texas Techís Vietnam Center. Its mission is ěto support and encourage research and education regarding all aspects of the American Vietnam experience; promoting a greater understanding of this experience and the peoples and cultures of Southeast Asia.î

Under The Virtual Vietnam Archive:

    • Search for a variety of documents, especially primary source material (interviews and reminiscences) of men and women who served in Vietnamóon both sides of the conflict; also scholarly articles in PDF format. (VUS 12, 13)
    • Includes text and audio files.

      Example: Search for ěkhe sanh.î

You can limit the search by adding other terms, for example ětet offensiveî AND ěpublic opinion.î

The Advanced Search option allows you to browse different collections within the Virtual Vietnam Archive (Example, 101st Airborne Division Collection), to search using military terms, to limit your search terms to the titles of documents, and to limit your search to different types of media (Example, Document (pdf.), Oral History or photograph).

Under The Oral History Project:

Dedicated to ěpreserving, through recorded interviews, the recollections and experiences of the men and women who participated in these Wars . . . American, Allied, and Vietnamese military and civilian personnel to include civilians on the home front.î

Interviews - Includes a link to Interviews Available Online (alphabetical list of interviewees, including brief biographical sketches), as well as option to Search the Interviews

Under Vietnam Archive:

  • Link to Reference/Collections includes further link to Searches. This feature enables you to search web sites associated with the Vietnam Center.
  • Links to Other Resources, including National Archives, Presidential Libraries and Military History centers.

    Example: Search for ěkent state.î

NOTE: "(GOVT. ##)" or "(VUS ##)" refers to the corresponding Virginia Standard Of Learning (S.O.L.).
