The arts: Exploring, discovering, taking risks, making mistakes, having fun.

Students at Hollins can major in studio art and art history. Both offer faculty who are recognized artists and scholars. Both are housed in the Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center. Both benefit from the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum, which enriches the university's curricular offerings through internships, volunteer opportunities, and courses on museum management. And students who are majoring in one of the disciplines frequently take courses in the other to inform and deepen their study of the arts.

Students can become involved in various arts organizations at Hollins. Some are:

  • Arts Association - a weekly gathering of painters, writers, photographers, actors, printmakers, and the like, interested in sharing their work and contributing to the Hollins art scene.
  • Women Art Supporters of Hollins (WASH) - dedicated to furthering the excitement of art in the Hollins community, as well as to providing a space for artistic discussions and projects. This is accomplished by taking field trips to local exhibitions, screening various art documentaries, hosting lectures, and offering art days.
  • Near East Fine Arts (NEFA) houses students who have an interest in the arts.
